PALETTE: Professional grade paint, no student quality.
WHITE: Any good Titanium white or Titanium/Zinc mixed white, no Permalba white, 125ml tubes (2 tubes)
YELLOW OCHRE PALE or LIGHT
*CADMIUM YELLOW PALE or LIGHT
CADMIUM YELLOW LEMON
*CADMIUM ORANGE
*ALIZARIN CRIMSON
*ULTRAMARINE DARK OR DEEP
COBALT BLUE
VIRIDIAN or VIRIDIAN HUE
- If you are inexperienced with outdoor painting or are experiencing problems mixing color outdoors I highly recommend limiting your palette to the four colors with the * plus White.
OPTIONAL COLORS: Cadmium Red Light, Ruby Red or Thalo Red Rose (any synthetic Rose Madder Red), Indian Red, Ivory Black
ADDITIONAL NOTE: This is difficult enough, there is no sense compounding problems with inferior materials.
BRUSHES: 2 ea. (minimum) 2, 4, 6, 8 White Bristle Filberts or Flats
CANVAS: 6x8, 8x10, 9x12, an assortment of these sizes, total of at least 10 for the week (approx. 2 per day), also consider bringing along a couple of 12x16s.
SKETCHBOOK AND PENCIL: Soft graphite pencil 9B, 8B, or 6B, and 6x8 or 8x10 sketchbook.
BOOKS: REQUIRED FOR WORKSHOP: “Carlson’s Guide to Landscape Painting” by John F. Carlson, and “Composition in Outdoor Painting” by Edgar Payne.
OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: “Oil Painting Techniques and Materials” and “The Practice and Science of Drawing” both by Harold Speed, and “The Art Spirit” by Robert Henri.
