About the Artist- Karen was born in Los Angeles, California, raised in North Jersey, and has lived in Colorado and Hawaii. She spent many years on Long Beach Island and now lives in Eatontown, New Jersey and part of the year on Hutchinson Island, Florida. As a child, Karen loved drawing and later studied commercial art, illustration, design, and acrylic painting. She has also taken workshops and classes for many years with local teachers, and at The Studio, Stuart, Florida. Karen exhibits in juried, and both group and solo shows.

Artist's Statement - Acrylics are a versatile and exciting medium which can be explored as translucent, transparent, or opaque and may also be combined with collage or any form of mixed media. Collage is a slower more thoughtful process allowing experimentation with composition and multiple layering of colors, and textures.
Switching back and forth between acrylic and watercolor painting and collage is a wonderful learning process and keeps inspiration high. Each new painting brings forth the joy of new expressions, adventure and discovery, and sometimes through Serendipity comes magic!
