| Tina Adamitis is a local artist who hails from
Howell Township, New Jersey, where she resides with her husband
and two children. Tina grew up in a home filled with art. The walls
of her home were filled with paintings by her father, Anthony Ventura,
while in the studio, his student's works abounded in such a wondrous
variety of painting and subject matter to fill her inquiring mind.
There never was a doubt that she would also become an artist. After
receiving her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at Georgian Court College,
Lakewood, New Jersey, she moved to Germany where she drew upon her
many travels throughout Europe for inspiration. Her drawings and
pen & inks became popular in the local communities where she sold
originals and lithograph prints.
Having since returned, Tina was able to focus on Monmouth
county and her surrounding community. She became an Exhibiting member
of the Guild of Creative Art and soon began teaching Drawing and
Pen & Ink to adults there. She also has taught at Around the Corner
Art Center in Freehold, New Jersey, and has taught Adult Education
in the Howell Township area. Having learned much and wanting to
share her knowledge to others, Tina has recently given up all of
these to pursue becoming an elementary school art teacher in Howell
Township schools.
MEDIUM
Although Tina has worked in many different mediums,
for the past 20 years she has focused on only Pen & Ink and Etching.
It is her attention to detail that drew her originally to the style
of Pen & Ink. "My style of work lends its self to any subject matter
that is full of detail. I find detail very mesmerizing and relaxing.
I can get into the drawing with every stroke I put down." Rural
scenes are the subject matter of choice for Tina, especially any
scene with trees, because there are so many different texture that
personalizes each type of tree. People as well show up in her work,
adding what she calls a human touch to the natural world.
HOUSE PORTRAITS
Tina also takes work on commission, when time will
allow. House Portraits are her specialty, but she has also done
portraits of churches, famous buildings of local areas, places of
business and farms. She works from photographs, working up a good
sketch on which any changes can be made by the owner before the
finished work is created.
