Kate Okeson:

Kate Okeson is an artist and art teacher in Monmouth County, NJ. She is a mixed-media artist primarily concerned with Artists' Books, words and text, the book as a construct, and print. Kate Okeson frequently uses objects contextualized by everyday use or experience, like aprons or birds as in her last two projects, and exploring the intersection of memory, geographic location, and personal histories. She has been in several shows at the Mitchell Sanborn Gallery in Keyport NJ, including a two person show in November 2006. As a high school art teacher in Rumson, NJ, she seeks to introduce both the traditional and postmodern approaches to students at all levels. Kate Okeson has also taught adult and children's art courses at Grounds for Sculpture, the Mitchell Sanborn Gallery, and for private groups around NJ. She is currently working towards her Master's degree in Educational Leadership at Seton Hall University.
