Thomas Wilczewski: My dedication to watercolor painting started nearly 30 years ago. Entirely self-taught, my subjects range from still life to landscapes and seascapes. My inspiration comes from various sources. It may be a nearby beach or garden. It can be a view of a far away place.
My painting have been mass produced for greeting cards, brochures and calendars. One watercolor entitled "Saturday Wash" was published in the 2002 calendar printed by the Christopher Reeve Foundation. Very Special Arts, an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Foundation, and the New Jersey Polio Network have published note cards, and
Christmas cards featuring my work. My rendering of lilies was entered in a nationwide competition held by Easter Seals and chosen in their 2003 spring campaign.
I hold elected memberships in both the New York and New Jersey American Artists' Professional League. I am an exhibiting member of the Guild of Creative Arts in Shrewsbury, New Jersey. My associate memberships include three organizations, the New Jersey Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.
I am past President of the Monmouth Arts Gallery which is now known as the Art Society of Monmouth County and serve as the Editor of the Art Society Newsletter. I am a former Board Member of the Polio Network of New Jersey and sponsor the Thomas C. Wilczewski Vocational Award given annually to a handicapped student of the A. Harry Moore School, in Jersey City.
In addition to my artistic pursuits I have also written a poetry book entitled "Poetry in Watercolor" and "Tom Wilczewski's Watercolor Workbook" which focuses specifically on teaching this gratifying subject.
